Jojoba Oil: One of The Gorgeous Skin-Loving Ingredient in Velvet Nectar
Okay, jojoba oil is actually really cool.
It comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant, but here is the interesting part: it isn’t technically an oil. Jojoba Oil for Spray Tans?
It is a liquid wax made mostly from wax esters. These are similar to some of the natural waxy substances found in our skin, which is one reason jojoba feels so light, smooth and comfortable when applied.
Your skin just seems to get it.
It spreads beautifully and nourishes the skin without leaving you feeling like you have been dipped in cooking oil. And honestly, nobody wants that—especially after a beautiful spray tan.
Why is jojoba oil so good for your skin?
It hydrates without feeling heavy
Jojoba works as an emollient, helping the skin feel softer, smoother and more comfortable.
Rather than feeling thick or sticky, it leaves the skin feeling:
Soft
Smooth
Comfortable
Nourished
Less dry and tight
It feels beautifully lightweight
This is a big one.
You get all that lovely nourishment without the heavy, greasy feeling that can come with some oils.
Jojoba spreads easily and gives the skin a silky finish, which makes it perfect for lightweight body oils, dry-oil products and fine body mists.
It supports the skin barrier
Your skin barrier is the protective outer layer that helps keep moisture in and irritants out.
Jojoba can help soften and condition this outer layer, supporting skin that feels dry, rough or uncomfortable. Research into plant oils also recognises jojoba as an ingredient used in products designed to support and protect the skin barrier.
It helps the skin feel balanced
Because jojoba has a composition that resembles some of the wax esters naturally present in human skin, it works beautifully in skincare products.
It can be a lovely option for skin that feels dry, sensitive or somewhere in between—although, as with every skincare ingredient, individual skin can respond differently.
It naturally contains antioxidants
Jojoba contains natural antioxidant compounds, including forms of vitamin E called tocopherols.
These help protect the oil from oxidation and support its stability, while jojoba leaves the skin looking soft, conditioned and healthy.
It is important to remember that jojoba oil does not replace sunscreen. SPF is still your skin’s best friend during the day.
Why is jojoba oil amazing after a spray tan?
This is where it really shines.
A spray tan can look much better when the skin is properly moisturised. Dry or flaky skin can make a tan appear uneven and may contribute to a patchy-looking fade.
Jojoba helps:
Reduce that dry, tight feeling
Keep the skin feeling soft and comfortable
Smooth the appearance of dry areas
Give the tan a softer, more even-looking finish
Support a smoother-looking fade
Leave the skin with a healthy glow
It is what helps the skin underneath your tan look and feel beautiful.
And beautiful skin makes a beautiful tan.
